Saturday, January 24, 2009

pluginsSo far 2009 has been a busy one for the Elgg project, a trend which looks set to continue based on interest, which is awesome.

First up we launched Elgg.com a site dedicated to commercial services for Elgg. Services include full custom networks, theme/plugin development and consultancy. Since launch, the response has been larger than we expected, hence the next item......

We are hiring! If you are a talented web/application developer looking to join an exciting start-up working on a rising open source project, then, what are you waiting for? Get in touch now! We are looking for everything from contract coders to full-time employees.

The community site at elgg.org has seen a wealth of improvements over the past 2-3 weeks including: enhanced search, a revamped plugins area and greater control over group content. Initial feedback has been very positive. We will continue to improve the site to make sure that those interested in Elgg can get everything they need from the site.

If you provide Elgg related services: hosting, custom development, translations, consultancy and so on, check out the new Elgg services area that has recently arrived on elgg.org http://elgg.com/services.php if you want to be listed, please read the requirements and if you feel you fufill them, then get in touch.

In other news, Elgg is being used by Stanford University on their web security course. This is great news as the core Elgg team will be working closely with them to help make sure the Elgg project is doing all it can to make the platform as secure as possible.
