micoach

Yesterday I finally received the micoach kit. If you don’t already know, micoach is adidas’ real-time-audio-feedback-coaching-system designed to help people get—and-stay—fit. The box contains a shoe sensor/pedometer, a heart rate monitor and the Pacer bit (with is the monitoring/talking bit that feeds back to you as you run). micoach isn’t an Mp3 player, but you can plug it into one so you can hear the real-time coaching advice (along with your music) as you run.

Heart Rate Monitor:

Of course it has an web/desktop interface that enables you to set a plan (including run faster, get fit, lose weight, learn to run or reduce stress) tailored to your ability level and goal. And because it’s based on your heart rate, the plans are flexible: So you can do gym-based cardio workouts or running/walking workouts.

It’s no secret that I am a big fan of micoach, it’s one of the things that attracted me to working with adidas at RIOT. I’ve run with + and the thing I most wanted from that (over and above stats) was to be able to actually improve my running (I’m rubbish obviously). micoach does that – which is pretty smart and pretty helpful.

Test to follow.
