Crafters of today use community in similar ways to that of their predecessors (to develop skills, create shared experiences, aid those in need, and generate income). However, just as most mediums are moving from print to digital, so is crafting. This digital shift has catapulted these once locally-based, but timeless traditions into a global community–removing the binds of time or geography and expanding the reach and scale of the crafting community. This website will examine how communication and community has changed and remained constant for crafters as the medium has transferred from pen and paper to ones and zeros, from face-to-face to screen-to-screen.
