1UP For Haiti - a video game tournament fundraiser for Haiti crisis relief
It’s been nearly a month since Haiti was devastated by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake, taking the lives of over 100,000 and leaving 1.5 million homeless. Why not help out by doing something competitive and fun, surrounded by awesome people?
Join us at New Work City on Saturday, February 13th for a fundraiser for the people of Haiti. We’ll be playing Mario Kart in a tournament-style face-off, and all buy-ins will go to Haiti relief efforts. There’s a suggested donation of $20 per person to enter. There will be more games to play, as well as drinks, snacks, and great people. Bring your friends and give what you can. Hope to see you there.

Huun-Huur-Tu Throat-Singing Workshop and Concert
NY Shamanic Circle presents a rare opportunity, up close and personal…Special events with the famous Tuvan group. Throat-singing, is a powerful sound system of spiritual development, health improvement and rejuvenation, based on ancient Tuvan shamanic tradition. It connects with Spirit of Highest Power and is both magical and practical, developing your deep breathing, and
higher spiritual alignment using vibrational sound. Learn exercises for the development of your voice, energy and body, to create a direct transformational experience. For those of you already experienced in throat-singing techniques, you can broaden your scope to learn and practice with most famous Tuvan masters of this ancient art form. In an intimate setting, Huun Huur Tu the Tuvan most famous
group will perform rarely heard indigenous music, which will marvel you with their ancient healing sounds. DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY! “Throat-singing music comes to us from the time before language,” explains Huun-Huur-Tu co-founder, Sayan Bapa. “This is why it is so difficult to find words to describe its beauty.” “A sonic marvel, throat singing cannot be described, it simply must be heard,”
agrees the Boston Globe. “And Huun-Huur-Tu…are among the most renowned in this ancient vocal style.” Huun-Huur-Tu come from the former Soviet Autonomous Republic of Tuva, a sparsely settled region of grasslands, boreal forests, and mountain ridges that is the birthplace of shamanism. This indigenous music highlights rare instruments and preserves what is arguably some of the world’s oldest form
of music making. The best known genre of Tuvan music, xöömei (khoomei, throat-singing), comprises what one might call a lexicon of musical onomatopoeia in which natural sounds are mimetically transformed into musical representations. Visit Huun-Huur-Tu site: http://www.hhtmusic.com. Important: Informal seating, please bring a
