Re: E-learning Course Writing 21.11 04:53

by Adrian Bourgeois.

Try Ustream.tv. I have been checking this site out and it seems to work well and is an easy way to do a live broadcast or record a lecture. I haven't had a chance to see how much bandwidth is used for a recording, but I think it is very minimal. Ustream is a free site and is starting to be used by more people in our area.

Hi David,

I checked out Skillsoft and the Dialogue design product and they do not list any prices, only a link to talk with a salesperson. That is kind of scary and likely expensive.

Also, it appears to be Windows only and the features seem to be presentation oriented, like a powerpoint flash authoring system. I wish they had more explanation.

I have used Hot Potatoes, which works ...

Clare, Skillsoft has a rapid course development tool called Dialogue design. It will do pretty much what you are looking for including the ability to run video. Very inexpensive and the courseware you produce can run on moodle.

Moodle in the corporate world? 19.11 00:07

by Paul Arrighi.

Clearly Moodle is a great tool for educational institutions but what about commercial or government organisations?

Are there any corporate/business users out there that may be interested in sharing insights on lessons learned, integration partners, war stories etc.

Week-DOW (Days Of the Week) The excelent and brilliant concept for the truly needed Course Format 17.11 15:43

by J Mesquita Mesquita.

Presenting you the new "Week (DOW)" course format
DOW for Days Of the Week.

Ok its weekly and has the days of the week the course is given.

Ever put the possibility?

Like:

Week (DOW) - The configuration is similar to week format with this added

- Number of Lesson in a week 5 -
But this field would be unnecessary with the following settings added

Days of the week

I sent a query about opening an new account to CRTeacher.com seven days ago, and haven't heard back. Does anyone know if they're still in business, or if such slow response is common with them?

Oh how good to see, Edward, that you have a Moodle Users Group in Sheffield. I am always pleased to see these appearing. I am in Preston (so not Sheffield!) but I wish you all the best.

If you would be interested in sharing ideas/practices about how Moodle can be developed in a school setting then you may wish to attend the second meeting of the Sheffield Schools Moodle Users Group.

e-mail efogg@chaucer.sheffield.sch.uk to get involved.

trouble setting up moodle in ubuntu 16.11 09:46

by Karen Webster.

I have got through to the Moddle Install. On the page to confirm locations for moodle I get the following error:

The 'Data Directory' you specified could not be found or created. Either correct the path or create that directory manually.

As far as I can see the directory has been created. I have no idea what to do.

Re: How much will it cost to implement a Moodle system 15.11 22:53

by Anthony Borrow.

Aidan - The Lounge is typically used for more casual conversations. Questions are better asked in the Using Moodle forums. Your question sounds like a Hardware/Performance question so you could try the Hardware and Performance forum. You may wish to start at Installing_Moodle#Hardware. As for cost, it depends if you are buying a server and starting from scratch or hosting with someone like a Moodle Partner. There are many variable to factor in to the equation so I would encourage you to share more specifics about your situation and ask folks to comment or make recommendations. The type of server needed depends on what types of activities are being done, how many users are expected to be connected concurrently, etc. Best of luck with your thesis. Peace - Anthony

Re: Looking for my group members for ED8600 14.11 22:16

by Glenys Hanson.

Hi Francisse,

Yes, this isn't your school Moodle.

Why don't you do a Google search for the name-of-your-school + Moodle? You should find the Moodle run by your school and then look for your course.

Cheers,
Glenys

Re: Integration of Moodle and Facebook 13.11 19:40

Nowadays, students view email notification as "so five years ago"! It would be great if Moodle could send notifications to other sites, according to each student's profile - facebook, twitter, etc. Is there any progress or other discussion towards this change?

I think it will be a cool mechanism to cope with. if you guys have any suggestions or comments, i...

Re: How to Create a image Quiz in Moodle 13.11 04:18

by Charlene Qu.

It is cool that we can create an image quiz in Moodle. my interest has been aroused. apart from moodle, there is also the quiz maker software that we can make an image quiz such as Quiz Creator, articulate quiz maker, and so on. It is interesting to try them and make a comparision.
